Gas move!

One of the 1st jobs is to move the gas supply. The current gas supply and meter is in a position that will be demolished w/c 12/8/13!

It has taken weeks for me to get a hold of the SGN planners and they finally called on Friday 2/8/13 whilst I was at a children's play centre to say they could come on Monday ! How typical! My iPhone battery was at 26% which meant that at any minute it was going to turn off, and I still hadn't established if our gas supplier would be able to perform the meter exchange on the same day.

The reason why we need a meter exchange is because we have chosen to go for a recessed sunken gas meter where the gas meter will be in a box at a low point at the front of the house. The gas supplier then FOC then swap the old meter for a new meter!

So from Monday we will have no hot water or heating. Hot water will be reinstated the following week when we have our new megaflo http://www.megaflo.com/campaigns/megaflo.htm cylinder with immersion attachment. Heating will be reinstated October time or when the new boiler and megaflo cylinder housing is built!

Whilst EON our gas supplier have said they can only perform the gas meter exchange on the 16/01/13, it is possible that we can exploit a loophole. It is possible on Monday for us to call national grid and say that our gas meter had been dropped and damaged! They then have an emergency 4hr turn around , and will come out and fit the new meter!

We will still have to wait until the 13/08/13 for the plumber to fit the new megaflo and plumbing etc for the hot water to be reinstated!

No doubt we will try this, but in reality I'd be amazed if it worked! Watch this space......
